The Girl Against the Wall

She's up against a wall,
A small plastic cup in hand.
Friends are long gone,
Disappeared far into the bass,
The beat, the dancing, the crowd.

She stands alone, frightened,
But refuses to show it.
But he smells her fear,
And inches closer, so slowly;
Like a predator stalking its prey.

His words are like candy,
Sweet and inviting,
Irresistible and unstoppable.
Fingers intertwine and he leads her away.

He tells her she's beautiful,
And her eyes glisten like it's
The first time she's heard those words before.

She's up against the bed,
Only her glistening eyes have glazed over.
'I'll be gentle, i'll be gentle'
All the while she screams for it to stop.

A tease, he lifts himself off of her.
It's over, it's over.
But he tries to ask her one last time.
She cries as she begs and says no,
But it wasn't a question,
It was never a question.

Pinned down, head turned,
She thinks of better things.
It'll be over soon, the hurt will stop.

What was in that cup he gave her?
Everything blurring and the room darkening.
It's the next morning, 12 hours later.
She awakes to his smiling face.

All she can do is run, run far, far away.
The shower stains her skin red,
Burning hot, as she scrubs with her nails.

It's all over, it's all over, she thinks.
But it's never over,
It will never be over.

Inhale, exhale, the smoke numbs the body.
She breathes in the pills,
And suddenly there is no more pain.
There are no more memories,
Just relaxation and relief.

She isn't there anymore,
That girl up against the wall.
The numbness has stuck,
And there is no longer emotion.

All the touches,
Have no feeling.
And the sweet whispers,
Have no meaning.
They are nothing anymore,
He has stolen every meaning from her.

The girl against the wall,
Is now slumping.
Her head cocked to the left,
With eyes glistening like the very first night.
There is no more pain, there is no more fear;
She is finally freed.

And the boy with the words like candy,
Is whispering them to another girl,
With her back against the wall,
Wondering where all her friends have gone.
