I Learned From My Parents...

I learned from my parents, that they hated each other in college! When they told me this I was shocked! They both went to Tulane in New Orleans for college. My mom was a big nerd and a very proper young lady. On the other hand, my dad was a crazy college student and loved playing pranks on people. My mom thought my Dad was annoying and immature. After college they both moved to Chicago, Illinois, where they bumped into each other on the street and decided to go out to dinner to catch up. My mom realized how mature my dad had become and decided to give me a second chance. A couple years later, they got married! They have now been married for twenty- seven years and have five children.
I had no idea that my parents didn’t like each other in college! I was very surprised when they told me. Knowing this doesn’t change how I feel about my parents, but it did teach me that people can change and you should always give someone a second chance. You never know what could happen if you do. If my mother didn’t give my father a second chance, I wouldn’t be here today.
My parent’s story has showed me that people can change and giving someone a second chance can be really important. I hope when I grow up and get married I can be as happy as my parents are today.
