My mother not being invited to proposal

My boyfriend of 5 years is thinking about proposing to me soon, but him and myself love my mom, but aren't the biggest fan of her. He mentioned that he didn't want my mom there when he proposes, but my sister will be there, and his parents that we are super close will be there too. My older sister is 6 years older than me, and when my parents split when I was really young, she kind of took a motherly like roll to me and my other siblings. I always felt way closer to my sister than my mom. She has a great marriage that I look up to, has a baby, a home, and is just a great person. My mom, after my parents split, was not the best parent to us, and it felt like she became completely selfish and just didn't raise us as well as a parent should. It always felt like my sister was my mom, and my mom was my immature, sister. My boyfriend and I do love my mom, but we think she's a little crazy. Is it mean if he thinks about asking my in laws, and sister to be at the proposal, and not my mom?

It is your mom first of all, wedding is a family celebration, so it's okay to gather the family on this special day. If you want to ask for advice, better ask your elder sis, I think she has some ideas about it. I noticed that your boyfriend is not fond of your mom first, maybe it is just his influence. Anyway I wish you the great wedding day and to be happy!

This is your mother, your family, and if your boyfriend can't get with your mother, you should think if he is your destiny

Well it is pretty hard sometimes to get great relationships between husband and relatives, but it is important, as you won't be happy if your clothest prople will hate each other
