TOP 5 Tips to Achieve a Better Work-Life Balance

Achieving a successful work-life balance is vital to enjoying and making the most of your time in, as well as out of, the office. According to the latest research of HSE, nearly 39% of all work-related illnesses were caused by stress, anxiety or depression in the workplace.
Yes, you work hard, and you’re career-driven, but sometimes this can cause early burnout when you feel completely drained and broken. Perhaps you’re too familiar with the exhausted and frazzled feelings that result from spending too many hours at work and not devoting enough time to yourself.
No doubt, your career is important. But balance and harmony in all areas of life can bring success in every sphere and help you flourish. So if you are looking for useful steps to achieve a better balance between your personal life and work, look no further! Here are the top 5 helpful tips to keep your sanity in the modern world.

• Prioritize

There are only 24 hours in a day, so make sure you have enough time not only for work, but for relaxation and your interests. Sometimes when it comes to prioritizing, we think only about work-related tasks. But if you’re going to keep balance in all areas of your everyday life, you also need to learn how to prioritize things such as your hobbies or meeting up with friends.

Start your morning with a good old-school to-do list. First of all, write every task you want to get done that day, including professional responsibilities and personal goals. Once your list is written, look back through it and number each item in the order of its importance.

There are always several professional tasks on the top of the list due to pressing deadlines. In this case, make sure that you have at least one personal task in this top five. At first sight, it seems irrational to rank this kind of task ahead of work, but learning to prioritize what’s more important to you is a key to better life balance.

• Schedule your personal time

Prioritizing is significant, but sticking with those priorities is more important, no matter how hard it is to stay on track and not push aside your own needs in order to crack on with professional tasks.

Besides, it’s really helpful to schedule free time. So whether you want to hang out with friends or attend a regular fitness class, put it in your calendar. Treat each personal event as you would any other professional meeting.

• Be honest about your time restrictions

We all know times when we don’t have time for ourselves because we’ve taken too much responsibility. Keep in mind you need to be honest with your boss or clients as well as yourself about your limitations and availability.
Don’t try to be a superwoman who is always available to save the day. That’s why before you agree when someone asks you to cope with last minute project, take a moment to evaluate your current workload and consider all the pros and con.

• Take time for sport

Unfortunately, sports activities usually are one of the last things on our calendar. Our weekly yoga class or pool is quickly replaced with a work meeting. But staying active and spending enough time doing sport is not only important for your physical health, it's also vital for your mind.

• Leave work at office

We all need time to wind down and relax after a long day, so don’t use your free time as an opportunity to catch up your professional tasks.
Life gets busy, and balance between your work and personal life can seem like a challenge. Hopefully, these tips will help you keep your life well-balanced and you to find a happy medium.
