Growing old is a phenomenon that has perturbed every individual. Thus many multinationals with anti wrinkle products are scoring high in the market. Despite these brands making convenient place in our lives, ageing is inevitable.
Urbanization and industrialization has changed the standard of living. But as it is a well known fact that any advancement in technology is accompanied by certain risk, so did this one. To cope up with the current life style, most of the family members go out to earn the living. Elders are left behind in this race, alone and strangled. Moreover higher stress level due to hectic routine results into extreme mood swings. And elders are often the soft target for the outlet of such intense emotions. Families at times alienate these elders as they no longer add value to their bank balance. Most of these lonely beings find shelter in old age homes or spend a humiliating life. We get so busy with our daily chores and ignore these elderly people who are the whole and sole reason of our existence. They are the ones who have always protected us against all odds and have sacrificed their happiness at every step just to see us smile. They are the spine of one’s family. They are the ones who guard us throughout our lives. Instead of obliging their unspoken efforts, we tend to isolate them.
This is the global issue and hence needs an immediate attention. A joint effort by all individuals is required to reduce ever growing number of retirement and nursing homes. Let’s join hands together to honor such calm and lovely beings and pledge unanimously: We shall respect every elder around us. We will help them live their life with dignity. And henceforth would try to bring down the number of old age homes.
