Senior year, right? All of a sudden, every move I make is being watched. Not by Big Brother, mind you. By colleges, by financial aid offices, by everyone who could define my future for me. And it's a lot of pressure. Any of my friends will tell you that I'm pretty ambitious. I make A's and B's, and I don't really struggle in school. An epidemic of mass proportions is in the making, and a lot of well-educated students are beginning to get caught in the edges of the educational maelstrom. "We don't care!" they chant.

If you take a look at the future that has been so carefully trashed for us, you might see the reason behind the apathy. Who could care about their education if it won't do them any good when they get out into the world? Why reach for the stars if the stars have been hung permanently out of reach?
