The grass freshly damp with the soon to be early morning dew.
Laying on my back with tears falling off my face adding to the dew already
Gathered on the sweet scented grass.
Feeling more and more cold by the second as my life falls
To pieces like leaves falling off of trees.
Just when I think things will get worse
I feel warmth slowly overtake me from my toes up to my shoulders.
I sit up on my elbows and look down to see that it’s a red blanket
Woven very intricately and delicately with many vivid colors
Each color meaning a different event in life
The blanket isn’t done yet though.
I feel a strong but gentle hand wipe away my tears
And push my hair away from my face.
I can’t see who it is
All I can see is the deep, infinite black sky
Woven with its own strands of stars.
Beautiful, bright, and luminescent stars
Gleaming down on me
Telling me that someone is there for me
I can feel in my heart that this person really cares for me
I call this person a star because I know
That he is a strong man that cares for me and protects me.
He makes me feel like I’m shinning in beauty
Like the stars in the night sky.
I feel a warm body next to me
An arm wrapping me in the warmth of
Love, cares, hopes, and wishes.
In his eyes you can see care
From his mouth come words of hope
I lay my head on his chest
And from his heart I can hear the slow beat of love.
His hands though,
His hands are not still, they are at work.
They are weaving very carefully
Trying to work on the blanket that warms me
It seems as though he is weaving the stars into the blanket.
I look at him in amazement
The stars are all I have ever had that
Stayed the same when life changed on me
His heart tells me something special
That each star is a memory he has shared with me
His eyes tell me his wish
His wish that will come true as long as there are stars in the sky
His wish that he will never run out of stars to weave
His wish that the blanket will grow
And with growth
More intricate and beautiful colors
Colors of life, of care, and of hope
Colors of love.
