I must aspire to the words of John F. Kennedy and ask myself what I can do for my country. I must not have restrictions. My age is a number, not a limit to the people I can help. Everyday I am presented with opportunities big and small, and what do I do? I limit myself. To be the change, I need to accept the change. The world is renewed every second of every day. Limiting yourself leads you down a path not of change, but of stagnation and a static life. Dave Mathews said it best, “To change the world starts with one step,” and in my opinion that step is to change yourself. So today I take that step, not into the unknown, but into a place where I am confident I will find a better me. My name is Parker Hoppens, I am a 16-year-old junior in high school, and I have lived a privileged life. I have made attempts to change the world, but have limited myself to the opportunities others present to me. Today, that all changes. I will not wait for someone to change me, or for someone to ask me to help change the world. Because the unfortunate truth is, that day may never change. No, my possibilities in life are endless and I will not hold myself back. If the difference between me letting someone else change the world, and me helping thousands, even millions of others, is one little change I need to make in my brain…get ready world. I know there are so many other people like me, so many people just need one piece of motivation, and that begins with me. Change yourself and you can, and will, change the world. Much love.
