In the past years there has been a significant drop in teen pregnancy. In the years 1991 and 2010, teen pregnancy dropped forty four percent. Teen sexual activity on the other hand, still happens quite often today. Teenagers are now just being educated and began using contraceptives. The reality has hit them, and it is no longer an issue to talk about sex like it was back in the 50s. Young adults now understand the consequences of pregnancy at such a young age.
In school we teenagers now are being educated about sex, hence the name Sex Ed. They teach us what happens in our bodies during this process, diseases, how to prevent pregnancies and birth. It isn’t an uncomfortable issue to discuss about because we need to know this information. Without helpful information like this, pregnancy will be on the rise.
They’ve also made companies like Planned Parenthood that helps young adults to get a hold of contraceptives. They give out condoms and birth control for teenagers and it’s completely confidential. Teenagers can feel comfortable and won’t be as embarrassed to get contraceptives. It’s no longer shameful for young adults to use protection; in fact it’s encouraged now.
Teenagers can fall in love too, and when this happens it may lead to sexual activity. The people need to know there is nothing wrong with this and it should be accepted in society. Education in sex and contraceptives should be encouraged in order to prevent pregnancy.
