Viewers witness the internal dilemmas of hopelessness, loneliness, and mere fatigue within the life of the pregnant teenager. Mere exposure and showing of the real life that teen mothers go through has enough impact on viewers’ lives to cause them to make the effort in order to prevent their own pregnancy.
Another mode by which the American public has put forth the endeavor to educate the public is the use of increasingly popular social networking sites, such as Facebook. In these sites, friends of the user online are able to like, share, and comment on several kinds of posts. Pictures of teenage mothers and questions regarding the pregnancy of pregnant teens have managed to circulate websites and further increase awareness of the teenage pregnancy by also providing a window of sight in which viewers see the reality of the pregnancy. The various images posted and seen on Facebook leave great effects on those who witness the image; in that, they realize that they would never want to experience and go through that hardship. Furthermore, seeing how our society is becoming increasingly technological, mobile phones, such as iPhones, have accessibility to the social networking sites that contain these pictures, thus further spreading the photo. In these posts, several messages can be conveyed, namely, however, the message of hardships comes prominently across and causes people to react in a manner that reflects opposition towards getting into the situation of being pregnant. These posts allow society to realize and observe the potential lifestyle they would have to adapt to in the case that they should become pregnant with a child.
