To be honest, money is important to me. I’m fifteen years old, and if I want to go out with my friends or buy the newest electronic device, I’m going to have to save up for it. I come from a middle class family where money is not in abundance. Sure, we can go on vacations and go out to nice dinners once in a while, but for my family to go shopping and spend 500 dollars at one time is very unlikely. I’m proud to be my age and know the value of a dollar. I see my parents work hard to provide for my family and I’m so privileged to have those role models in my life. The minute I turn sixteen and I’m able to get a real job, I plan to do so. I want to earn my money, rather than rely on a rich doctor husband that all kids dream of having.
Right now, I’m saving for a few things that I keep in a separate fund from just spending money. I would really love an SLR camera. I’ve been looking at graphic sites online for the past few months and decided to get into photography. Also, I love makeup. I’d love to start a cosmetic company, such as Bobbi Brown did. I decide to save most of my money rather than spend it for these reasons. If I’m fifty years old and realize that I haven’t met these goals, I’m going to be disappointed with myself. I guess it’s weird that I save at a young age, but I’m just trying to plan for my future.
