Hi! I’m Michelle from DecorandtheDog. I was pretty excited when Megan contacted me about writing for Stages of Life. What a fantastic idea for a website!

What’s my current stage in life?

My husband and I are 29 years old. We’ve been married for almost 5 years. I’m a pharmacist. He’s an accountant. We have a 4 year old Wire Fox that we are madly in love with.

We might have human children some day. We might not.

We’re living in our second home. We built both. Our idea of a good time on the week-end is accomplishing a lot on our DIY list and squeezing in some time with friends and family.

I am loving this stage in life.

We are happily married. We’ve worked out those "you do annoying things” kinks that come with first living together (example: not putting the cap on the toothpaste, snoring, etc). It’s nice having the security of knowing you will always have someone to spend your life with while still having some other unknowns to look forward to (ex. children, another dog, another house).

We both have great jobs that we mostly enjoy. College was fun but there is something nice about having consistency in your day to day living…oh yeah, and paychecks and not wearing sandals to the shower are nice too.

We are both enjoying discovering ourselves through new hobbies. I feel that some people miss this (or have to wait for this) because they have children early (just an observation..don’t hate the childless lady). I recently starting blogging about our DIY adventures. I hadn’t realized how much I miss writing and channeling my inner creative side. My husband is learning photography and photo editing (which works out well for my blogging…such a great pair). We also enjoy exercising and have recently decided to start running together. Having the time and resources to start these hobbies has been very rewarding.

There you have it. Happiness at age 29. Anyone have a way to freeze time?

I am ahead of you by a few years - had the career, the homes, the child (at 35), the hobbies, the DIY projects, wonderful vacations and a great hubby. Still have all that (minus the career) and more at 56. It just gets better with time, so no need to freeze anything. Cheers to you! Enjoyed your post. Suzanne
